Fun Facts About 20th Circuit
Juan Ponce de Leon is thought of as the discover of Florida when he arrived on the east coast of Florida on March 23, 1513. Statehood came to Florida on March 3, 1845, more than three hundred years later, and the 20th Judicial Circuit came along much later. In fact, it was established in 1970, just forty years ago.
Prior to its establishment, it was part of the Twelfth Judicial Circuit, consisting of Manatee, Sarasota, DeSoto, Charlotte, Collier, Hendry, Glades and Lee Counties. The Twentieth Judicial Circuit was the last circuit created in Florida. The Twentieth Judicial Circuit consists of Lee, Collier, Charlotte, Hendry and Glades counties. Each county has its own courthouse and its own circuit and county court divisions.
